What Buyers Decide in the First 60 Seconds
What Buyers Decide in the First 60 Seconds
Real Estate, Honestly
Buyers decide more than they realize, very quickly.
Not everything.
But enough.
Within the first minute of a showing, most buyers have a sense of whether a home feels promising, uncertain, or unlikely — even if they couldn’t explain why.
That early feeling tends to stay with them.
When buyers walk in, they’re not evaluating details yet. They’re simply taking it in.
Does this feel easy?
Can I imagine myself here without effort?
Is anything pulling my attention in the wrong direction?
Those questions aren’t conscious — but they’re powerful.
Homes that feel easy to take in invite buyers to keep going. When a space requires effort to understand or move through, buyers often slow down, even if they can’t say what’s bothering them.
This is where sellers sometimes feel confused. They hear things like, “They liked it,” or “They’re thinking about it,” and assume things are on track.
But liking a home isn’t the same as moving toward it.
Momentum builds when buyers feel comfortable early on. Comfortable enough to stay curious. Comfortable enough to imagine their lives unfolding there. When that doesn’t happen, interest can stall — even if nothing is technically wrong.
One of the most common misconceptions is that a home needs to impress in order to perform well. In reality, buyers respond more consistently to homes that feel settled and intentional.
Ease allows buyers to relax.
And relaxed buyers make decisions more easily.
This isn’t about staging for effect or creating a reaction. It’s about understanding how quickly impressions form — and how much influence those early moments have.
Buyers rarely say, “I decided in the first minute.”
But their behavior often tells a different story.
And that’s where outcomes quietly begin to take shape.
